1. Intended use
The Speedport 7 is a Wi-Fi router with an integrated modem for operation on fiber-optic (FTTH/GPON), DSL, and Telekom connections. It serves as a central network component for home use (Internet, telephony, smart home, Wi-Fi mesh). Any other use is considered unintended.

Note: Read the provided operating instructions and the safety data sheet carefully before commissioning.

2. Installation and operating instructions
Use the router only indoors (not outdoors).

Place the device on a stable, level, and non-flammable surface.

Keep the ventilation slots free – do not cover them with curtains, tablecloths, or other objects.

Do not operate the router near sources of heat (radiators, direct sunlight).

Ensure sufficient air circulation to avoid overheating.

Operating temperature: 0 °C to +40 °C; storage between −20 °C and +70 °C.

3. Electrical safety
Use only the supplied plug-in power supply unit. The connection must only be made to a properly installed grounded socket.

The socket must be easily accessible so that the router can be quickly disconnected from the mains if necessary.

Disconnect the router from the mains and, if applicable, the fiber-optic/DSL line during thunderstorms to avoid overvoltage damage.

Do not use damaged cables or power supply units.

Do not open the housing – it contains no user-serviceable parts.

4. Fiber-optic – Laser warning
⚠ DANGER FROM LASER RADIATION:
The Speedport 7 features a fiber-optic connection (LC/APC). Never look into the fiber-optic connection or into a connected fiber-optic cable. The laser light is invisible to the human eye but can permanently damage the retina.

Never insert a finger or objects into the socket.

Ensure that the fiber-optic connector is clean before plugging it in (contaminants can lead to malfunctions and scattering of the laser light).

Use only the supplied fiber-optic cables or those approved by the manufacturer.

Cover unused fiber-optic connections with the provided protective cap.

5. Connection to telephone and data networks
Connection to telephone and data networks must only be made via the designated cables.

Use only the cables supplied or approved by the network operator.

Failure to comply may result in damage to the router or the network infrastructure.

6. Heat generation and ventilation
The router warms up during operation. This is normal. Nevertheless:

Do not install in closed cabinets without air circulation.

Do not place on heat-sensitive surfaces.

Do not place flammable objects near the device.

Operate the device only with the supplied power adapter (see rating plate for performance data).

7. Cleaning and care
Disconnect the router from the power supply before cleaning.

Clean the housing only with a soft, dry cloth.

Do not use liquids, sprays, or abrasive cleaning agents.

Never immerse the device in water or other liquids.

8. Radio information / health
The router transmits in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi band as well as via DECT (telephony/smart home).

Maintain a minimum distance of at least 20 cm between the router and your body.

Persons with pacemakers or other implanted medical devices should not carry the router directly on their body (e.g., in a trouser pocket) and should maintain a safety distance. If in doubt, consult your doctor or the manufacturer of the implant.

9. Software security (recommendations for operation)
Activate automatic updates for the router firmware to close security gaps.

Change the factory password and Wi-Fi key after initial setup.

Use WPA3 encryption (or at least WPA2).

Disable WPS after setting up all devices.

If necessary, set up a guest Wi-Fi to grant visitors separate internet access without access to your home network.

10. Repair, warranty, and disposal
Repair: Do not open the device. Repairs may only be performed by authorized specialist personnel. Contact Telekom customer service or an authorized service partner.

Warranty: The statutory warranty rights (24 months in the EU) and the terms and conditions of the respective provider (e.g., Deutsche Telekom) apply.

Disposal (WEEE): Waste electronic equipment must not be disposed of in household waste (crossed-out wheeled bin symbol). At the end of its service life, return the router to a municipal collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Packaging: Recyclable – dispose of via the recycling collection system.
