1. Operating and Installation Instructions
Ventilation & Installation: The ventilation slots of the FRITZ!Box must always be clear. Do not cover them with objects such as newspapers, tablecloths, or curtains. Do not place the device on heat-sensitive surfaces.

Location of Use: Use the FRITZ!Box exclusively indoors (not outdoors). Place the device on a stable, level, and non-flammable surface.

Thunderstorms: Do not install or operate the FRITZ!Box during a thunderstorm. If possible, disconnect the FRITZ!Box from the power supply and antenna during a thunderstorm (to avoid overvoltage damage).

Liquids: Avoid contact of the FRITZ!Box with liquids (rain, moisture, spilled drinks). This could lead to a short circuit or overheating.

Operating Temperature: The FRITZ!Box functions best at ambient temperatures from 0 °C to +40 °C. Storage is permitted between −20 °C and +70 °C.

2. Electrical Safety
Power Connection: Use only the supplied power adapter (12 V / 2.5 A) and connect it to a properly installed earthed socket.

Power Disconnection: The power adapter serves as the disconnecting device from the mains. The socket must be easily accessible so that you can quickly disconnect the device from the mains if necessary.

Cables: Do not use damaged cables. Replace defective power adapters only with original AVM power adapters.

3. Radio Technology Safety Instructions
The FRITZ!Box 6850 5G meets EU requirements for electromagnetic compatibility and transmission power:

WLAN 2.4 GHz: max. transmission power 100 mW (20 dBm)

WLAN 5 GHz: max. transmission power 200 mW (23 dBm) for channels 36–64, max. 1000 mW (30 dBm) for channels 100–140

DECT (Telephony/Smart Home): max. transmission power 250 mW

Mobile Communications (5G/LTE): Transmission power dynamically adjusts to the network environment. Maximum values are below EU limits.

Note for persons with medical implants (e.g., pacemakers):
The FRITZ!Box transmits in the DECT, WLAN, and mobile communication frequency ranges. Maintain a sufficient safety distance (at least 20 cm) from your implant. If in doubt, consult your doctor or the implant manufacturer.

4. Repair, Warranty, and Disposal
Repair: The FRITZ!Box contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not open the casing. Independent repairs can lead to electric shock, further damage, and void the warranty. Repairs may only be carried out by authorized specialist personnel.

Warranty: AVM provides a 5-year manufacturer's warranty for the FRITZ!Box 6850 5G. Statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.

Disposal (WEEE): Old electronic devices must not be disposed of with household waste (symbol of the crossed-out waste bin). At the end of its service life, hand in the FRITZ!Box at a municipal collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment. The packaging materials are recyclable.

Battery Notice: The FRITZ!Box 6850 5G does not contain a battery (mains operation only).

5. Software Security (Operating Recommendations)
Updates: Activate automatic updates for FRITZ!OS. Regular updates close security vulnerabilities and improve performance.

Change Password: After initial setup, change the factory password (located on the type plate on the bottom of the device). This prevents unauthorized access to your router settings.

Encrypt Wi-Fi: Use WPA3 encryption (highest security level) or at least WPA2. Disable the WPS function after all devices are connected.

Guest Wi-Fi: Set up a separate guest Wi-Fi so that visitors do not have access to your home network.

Parental Control: Use the integrated filters (time budget, youth protection filter, device lock) to ensure safe internet use for your children.
